Popular Holiday gifts this year?

November 17th, 2008 by Josh

Let’s all share some of the more popular Holiday gifts we’re buying or wishin’ for this year.

Let’s share our Holiday shopping experience and find the great deals out there everyone is looking for! I will leave the comments open for people to suggest gifts, stores and websites to find great gifts and great prices, maybe even some reviews of products/websites that you have dealt with before.

I want this to be more than about our sales, I want all the readers to be active in helping each other out this year here at the TSS-Radio Blog and make sure everyone can have a Happy Holiday this year! We need to lend a hand towards our neighbors this year, it doesn’t seem like a big deal to suggest a cool, economically priced gift, but to some people it means a lot. Thanks everyone.

Some Websites I suggest for:

So if eveyone can put in one site URL, store name or a product name as a Holiday Gift suggestion, we will all be very thankful! Let me know what you guys think of this too, Feedback is always appreciated!
I am not endorsing these sites and have no responsibility for the actions of these websites. This is only a guide.

Bargain deals from TSS-Radio

October 31st, 2008 by Josh

Everyone knows that people are going to be looking for the value this holiday season. I want to help everyone find the bargain deals here at TSS-Radio. Be on the look out for REBATES on receivers as well and be sure to read all about them HERE

Bargain Receivers:

1.) Starmate 4- this reciever may look slightly expensive (around $109.99), but this radio is an investment in quality. I have seen virutally no returns back on the Starmate 4 in my time here at TSS-Radio. Many people become attached to the bright vibrant screen and full text display right out of the box. So as it may look expensive, you are sure to get your money’s worth out of it and more. That is why I ranked it #1 in bargain receivers.

2.) My next bargain receiver is a must give-gift, the Stratus 4. This entry-level SIRIUS radio has all the basic features and no frills, but what it lacks in frills in makes up in value(around $49.99).  The Stratus 4 makes an excellent gift to anyone who has even a remote interest in SIRIUS Satellite Radio. I give this receiver high marks in value and dependability, but a lower rating in features and display.

Bargain Packages:

1.) For my first bargain package I choose the Sportster 4 Home and Car Kit Package. Comes complete with everthing you need to listen SIRIUS in your home or car. This is an incredible value package. You get a Receiver, Car Kit, and Home kit for around $129.99. Great value paired with a reliably receiver makes this my top bargain package.

2.) The next bargain package I have up is the Stratus 5 with Soloist Sound Dock. This package give you great value( around $129.99) , a great receiver, and a Soloist Sound Dock that provide superior sound quality while maximizing space. This kit is great for a gift, because once someone receives this they will have nothing stopping them from enjoying Live Satellite Radio anywhere in their home or car.

Bargain Home Tuners:

If you have a home theater setup and don’t want to break the bank on adding SIRIUS Satellite Radio here are a few suggestions.

1.) SIRIUS Conductor Home System- this two piece combo lands a 1-2 punch with me.  This is a unique SIRIUS tuner that allows any speaker system with audio inputs to be turned into a SIRIUS machine of commercial-free Music splendor. I am passionate about this system for it has high value and ease of daily use. The remote which you hold in your hand controls the SIRIUS tuner from all the way across the room, so you do not even have to get up to change the channel or volume. The remote can also be programmed to control a TV, DVD Player or other A/V devices.  I give this highest marks for value/price. Best bang for your buck here.

Bargain Everything!

Check out our Open Box section for year-round deals and saving. These items are tested and held to the same standards as new products. Most have just been opened so we could take photos of them for our website, and now we can’t sell them as new so we pass the savings on through our Open Box section. Some Receivers, Boomboxes, and Accessories can be found in Open Box, so buy with confidence that we back every product we sell.

This Holiday season shop with confidence from TSS-Radio, we have Everything SIRIUS, but we also have the most knowlegable staff in the industry. So give us a call or email, even if you don’t plan to buy today talk it over with us, so we can give you our advice and help you get the most out of your investment.

Editorial:Inteview with Matt from TSS-Radio

October 25th, 2008 by Josh

Continuing my series of interviews, next up is Matt from TSS-Radio, a valued member of our staff and local comedian.

Josh:When did you get into satellite radio or electronics?
Matt:I have been into electronics all of my life. My grandfather was one of the first people to bring Pioneer electronics to America and helped make them a household name. So I was born into the home and car electronics business. I got into Sirius when I worked at a retail store that played it all day long.

Josh:If you could add one feature to the Stiletto 2 what would it be?
Matt:I love the Stiletto 2 the way it is. I mean, it would be great if a little arms popped out of the top and wiped my nose when I sneezed, but other than that I like it the way it is.

Josh:Who is your favorite Sirius or Xm celebrity or personality?
Matt:Jim Brewer is great. I listen to his show a bunch and I love hearing him talk about his days at SNL.

Josh:Do you have any tips or tricks for people that own sirius or satellite radio?
Matt:Yep, save your receipts for tax time. And not just your Sirius stuff, but all receipts. You never know what could be deductible!

Josh:Now you and Jamie both have a pretty good comedy career here, do you guys ever think about collaborating?
Matt:Nope, Jamie and I don’t see eye to eye. And it’s not on just comedy stuff, it’s normal stuff. The other day we got into an argument about a certain brand of beer. I said it I drank it because it was less filling but he insisted that he drank it because it taste great. We almost got into a fist fight. I guess I am trying to say that most comedy duos are supposed to go together like peas and carrots.

Josh:What’s the best thing about working for TSS Radio?
Matt:Well, there are a lot of things really. We are a small company, we have some fun employees, and our owners really care about making the customer happy. It’s cool to work for an honest company.

Next week will be a surprise guest, but you must wait til then. Also next week will be giving away a prize, so be sure to tune in!

Tip of the Week with a Surprise Interview!

October 10th, 2008 by Josh

Here’s a maiden voyage on a new idea I’d like to try, Tip of The Week from ours truly JoshI will give, each week, a new tip ranging from Portable Radios to Car Kit Installs. Also I’m am going to try to get interviews with relevant people throughout the Satellite Radio World to make this blog a little more interesting to read.

This Week’s Tip:

How to get A la Carte SIRIUS Programming on your SIRIUS Radio

First, you need to purchase a SIRIUS Radio that is A la Carte compatible. Currently the Starmate 5 is the only SIRIUS Radio that can receive A la Carte Programming.

Second, Go online to SIRIUS.com and Click Install and Activate at the Top of the page.

Third, Follow the steps through and activate your SIRIUS Radio. and BAM your Done!

Fourth, Enjoy the programming YOU pick and control!

Interview of the Week: Jamie from TSS-Radio

Josh: How do you feel people reacted to the merger?

Jamie: I feel a lot of people didn’t even know that the merger happened. The people who did know were really confused about what that meant to them.

Josh: What do you think of A la Carte programming?

Jamie:It’s pretty much sweet but the options don’t make it a very attractive choice. I think this is also an issue people are confused on. If all you really want is music or just some talk radio it’s great. If you want any premium station you might as well get a full subscription.

Josh: Do you listen to SIRIUS at home? If so what is your favorite channel or SIRIUS celebrity?

Jamie: Yeah. I love Sirius actually. I don’t have cable and it’s the next best thing. My favorite channel is Sirius OutQ 109 for DNR and Diana Cage. My favorite music stations are Sirius Disorder, Boombox, Outlaw Country, The Beat, Alt Nation, Left of Center, any of the Decades Channels….. Come to think of it, there aren’t very many music stations I don’t like.

Josh: You’re a younger guy, do you see your peers with Satellite Radio?

Jamie: I don’t. Not because they wouldn’t like it but because they don’t understand why anyone would pay for radio when there is free internet radio. It’s such a great substitution for cable. If someone is looking for an MP3 player that isn’t an iPod, a Stiletto is great substitution. If someone has an office job and they are able to set it up, a soloist and any radio that will dock on it is AbFab.

Josh: Why not? What keeps them from buying SIRIUS?

Jamie: The thing that keeps a lot of people from buying Sirius is because they don’t know how much they would love it until they get it. Here are the people whose life sucks because they don’t have SatRad:1.People who drive in cars.2.People who sit at desks.3.People who walk. 4.People who take public transportation.5.People who are sad.6.People who have ears.7.People with Ebeneezer Scrooge hearts.

Josh: How would you get younger people to try SIRIUS? I know me being a young guy myself I do not see many of my peers with SIRIUS, but after you get it you can’t go back to the “other” radio, it’s so worth it.

Jamie: Yeah. I think you just answered your own question, Champ.

Josh: Last Question, When do you plan to release a comedy album? You’re a big comedy star here in Chicago, so when are you going to cut a few tracks?

Jamie: www.myspace.com/woney

Let me know how you guys feel about the new “Tip of the Week” and who you would like to see Interviewed?

New Stratus 5 and New SIRIUS Starbase System

    September 23rd, 2008 by Josh

Hey everyone! I’m not at TSS-Radio today, I’m at school, but between classes I have to write this because I am very passionate about these two little beauties.

    First Up:

    The New SIRIUS Stratus 5

This radio has most features familiar to current SIRIUS Radio owners. It brings to the table a NEW blue display rather than the previous orange screen.

A cool sleek look makes any car’s interior shine. Still comes with the universal connector system so don’t be afraid to upgrade!

    And if that wasn’t enough…..

    The New SIRIUS Starbase FMSC1

This is by far one of the coolest things released this year.

The Starbase is a unit that can be installed in just about any car, really. This is a behind the dash radio and the only thing you see is the display-no wires or cords. It connects via an Auxiliary Input Device or  FM Direct Adapter. And the best thing about this is you can add a second device to it like an iPod, mp3 player, or even a portable DVD player through the Starbase’s Aux-In cable.

This is truly a underrated pair. But what these two lack in hype they make up for in functionality and performance. A must-have for the everyone!
