SIRIUS Sportster 5 Home Antenna

All SIRIUS Sportsters use the same Home antenna. The connections are universal for the antenna.

There are a couple different types of SIRIUS Sportster 5 home antenna on the market so I will go into each one.

These antennas will work for the SIRIUS Sportster 5 SP5TK1/SP5.

SIRIUS HOME PNP ANTENNA-This is the standard antenna that comes with most SIRIUS home kits and Boomboxes. These work quite well when placed in the proper direction to receive SIRIUS signal(always face your home antenna towards Minnesota, no matter when you live in the country, this is the optimal direction). This antenna can be placed outside, but for optimal outdoor reception, the SIRIUS Outdoor Home Antenna would be best.

SIRIUS Outdoor Home Antenna- This is the industry standard outdoor antenna. Designed to weather the elements and pull in the SIRIUS signal, this antenna is used by many for rooftop or pole mounted installations.

Pixel Technologies Pro-500-This is an Outdoor Home antenna built for SIRIUS Satellite Radio. This antenna pulls in the signal with better gain(12dBi, which is 5dBi more than standard antennas) .

Pixel Technologies Pro-600-This is the updated version of the Pro-500. It only has about 8.5dBi, but this antenna can stream SIRIUS and XM at the SAME TIME! So if you have both a SIRIUS and XM radio this is a great antenna.

If you are looking for more options, or maybe a SIRIUS Antenna Extension cable, we have a variety of different solutions for any kind of situation. From simple to custom we can help, give us a call 773-772-4340.

New Stratus 5 and New SIRIUS Starbase System

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Hey everyone! I’m not at TSS-Radio today, I’m at school, but between classes I have to write this because I am very passionate about these two little beauties.

First Up:

The New SIRIUS Stratus 5

This radio has most features familiar to current SIRIUS Radio owners. It brings to the table a NEW blue display rather than the previous orange screen.

A cool sleek look makes any car’s interior shine. Still comes with the universal connector system so don’t be afraid to upgrade!

And if that wasn’t enough…..

The New SIRIUS Starbase FMSC1

This is by far one of the coolest things released this year.

The Starbase is a unit that can be installed in just about any car, really. This is a behind the dash radio and the only thing you see is the display-no wires or cords. It connects via an Auxiliary Input Device or  FM Direct Adapter. And the best thing about this is you can add a second device to it like an iPod, mp3 player, or even a portable DVD player through the Starbase’s Aux-In cable.

This is truly a underrated pair. But what these two lack in hype they make up for in functionality and performance. A must-have for the everyone!

History of the SIRIUS Starmate

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

If you have ever wondered where your SIRIUS Starmate got it’s humble beginnings, then this is the guide you’ve been looking for.

 Starmate ST1

SIRIUS Starmate Line: The Starmate line was first created with the Original Starmate ST1. Cousin to the Streamer GT and Xact XTR7 , The ST1 was a simple radio that boasted a no frills, 24/7 workaholic attitude.  The design was simple and offered SIRIUS fans a contemprary look. The Starmate Line really got its glory with the invention of the SIRIUS Replay function.

Starmate Replay ST2

The Starmate 2 or Starmate Replay SIRIUS ST2 was the first Starmate Sirius Satellite Radio to included the Replay function. Cousin to the Streamer GTR, This radio took a notice from many consumer that begged for a narrower SIRIUS receiver, that did not block vision on the dash. It was designed on a unique mounting bracket system much like the ST1 Starmate mount. This receiver is one of the most loved of all by SIRIUS fans.,but SIRIUS goes universal!

With as many different receivers out there, and many consumers switching back and forth. Consumers really wanted a universal docking style, that way any receiver could fit in another car/home/motorcycle kit. This would make it easier for a consumer to replace a radio or purchase a new one if they knew that the docking cradles were all the same. So SIRIUS introduced the SIRIUS Universal Dock and Play system. This means all new receivers and cradles are cross-compatible with eachother. SIRIUS impletmented this in its Starmate 3 ST3

Starmate 3

The Starmate 3 was seen as a huge jump forward and a small step backwards. The SIRIUS ST3 did not offer the SIRIUS Replay function, but it did offer the new universal style docking system. This radio was a throwback to its grandfather the ST1 with the features it carried. The ST3 was a low production radio and saw little favor from the SIRIUS world. This remains the low point in the SIRIUS line, however all that would change with the SIRIUS Starmate 4.

Starmate 4

By far of the most loved SIRIUS radios of all time came in 2006 with the Starmate 4. This radio had all the advantages of the ST2 and ST3, with none of their disadvantages. Th ST4 still remains a top seller and with its low return rate, the ST4 will have a placed saved for the Sirius Satellite Radio muesum and Hall of Fame, which isn’t being built, but should be! The St4 has the universal dock and replay function, plus its narrow design keeps you looking at the road and not the receiver. This radio will be hard to replace, but with any high-end electronics the next one is a secret………

Be looking out for the New Starmate 5……………and the Stratus 5
