BMW 740 IL and 740iA 1998-2003 Custom Mount

Pro Fit International Vehicle Specific Mounts are made specifically to fit each vehicle. They use existing dash fittings so there is no need to alter the interior of your vehicle and they blend in well for a much cleaner and more finished look. The picture above shows where it installs in your car and included below are the installation instructions to give you an idea of how difficult it is to install into your vehicle (also, the pdf manual is available above by clicking on the pdf icon). On some cars the VSM can be easily installed without tools in a few minutes, in some cars it requires more effort.



TOOLS REQUIRED: #2 short Phillips screwdriver, 3/16 drill bit and drill, marking pen,
protective cloth.
PARTS INCLUDED: Pro.Fit VSM®, instructions, two #10x5/8 screws.
LOCATION: To the right of the center console just above the glove box door.
STEP 1. Locate and remove a narrow trim piece just above the glove
box door. To do this open up the glove box door and locate three Phillips
screws along the top front section of the glove box. Remove these

screws using the short #2 Phillips screwdriver. Set the screws aside.
Carefully grasp and pull down on the top inside section of the glove box,
but don"t remove. The top section also has the courtesy light integrated
into it. Insert your hand above the top section of the glove box. By feel-
ing along the backside of the trim piece, locate five plastic long handled
nuts. Unscrew these nuts by hand. Set the nuts aside. Grasp the narrow
trim piece and carefully pull it toward you to remove. Set the trim piece

STEP 2. Locate a flat spot to the left of the left stud hole that holds the
narrow trim piece in place. Place the Pro.Fit VSM® over this flat spot.
Using the holes in the Pro.Fit VSM® as a guide mark two spots for
drilling. Set the mount aside. Caution: When drilling the pilot holes
through the padding and metal backing, you will generate a small
amount of metal shavings. Make sure to lay a protective cloth down
underneath the area you will be drilling so you can catch most of the
metal shavings. It is also a good idea to have a small vacuum handy
to clean up any remaining shavings. Carefully drill two pilot holes
using the 3/16 drill bit and drill.
STEP 3. Install the phone holder onto the Pro.Fit VSM®. Place the
Pro.Fit VSM® over the pilot holes aligning all the holes. Insert the pro-
vided screws and tighten with the #2 Phillips screwdriver.
STEP 4. Re-assemble the dash in reverse order securing all the screws
and nuts.
