Passat 1998-1999 Custom Mount

Pro Fit International Vehicle Specific Mounts are made specifically to fit each vehicle. They use existing dash fittings so there is no need to alter the interior of your vehicle and they blend in well for a much cleaner and more finished look. The picture above shows where it installs in your car and included below are the installation instructions to give you an idea of how difficult it is to install into your vehicle (also, the pdf manual is available above by clicking on the pdf icon). On some cars the VSM can be easily installed without tools in a few minutes, in some cars it requires more effort.

We highly recommend using the Pro-Fit Easy Swivel in addition to the mount for clearance and tilting.

TOOLS REQUIRED: Hook tool, T-20 Torx driver, drill, 5/64drill bit, marking pen, protective cloth,
#1 Phillips screwdriver.
PARTS INCLUDED: Pro.Fit VSMTM, instructions, three (3) #6x3/8" bevel headed screws.
LOCATION: To the right of the radio, in the lower right corner of the radio cavity.
NOTE: THE CUP HOLDER MAY NOT BE FUNCTIONAL WITH SOME
STYLE PHONES. THE USE OF A Pro.Fit EXTENSION BRACKET
(PART #EX-13-70) CAN HELP IN THE REPOSITIONING OF
THE
PHONE.
STEP 1.
To begin the installation remove the trim bezel and radio. They both come out
together but the climate control stays in place. Locate two (2) Torx screws inside
the cubby hole just below the radio. Remove these screws with your Torx driver.
Set the screws aside. Using your hook tool remove the face plate for the climate
control. Insert the hook tool behind the face plate in the upper right corner and
pull toward you. Do the same on all four corners of the face plate to release two
(2) side clips. Set face plate aside. Locate and remove two (2) more Torx screws
above the exposed climate control that hold the trim bezel in place. Set screws
aside. WARNING: To prevent any possibility of scratching the dash, lay your
protective cloth onto the center console. Grasp the trim bezel with your hands
and pull out toward you. Disconnect the wiring harnesses for the flashers and
defroster. Lay the bezel and radio on the center console to the left side.
WARNING: Do not disconnect the wiring for the radio.
STEP 2.
Install your phone holder and your phone onto the Pro.Fit VSMTM. Insert the the
Pro.Fit VSMTM in the lower right corner of the radio cavity. NOTE: Holding
the phone and mount with your right hand, make sure the phone will clear
the glove compartment door. Mark three spots for pilot holes with the marking
pen. Use the holes in the Pro.Fit VSMTM as a guide. Set the mount and phone
aside.
STEP 3.
WARNING: Always use caution when drilling into a dash to prevent any
accidental damage. Using your 5/64 drill bit and drill, drill three (3) pilot holes
where you marked with marking pen. Place Pro.Fit VSMTM over pilot holes and
align the holes in the Pro.Fit VSMTM with the pilot holes. Insert the three (3)
provided screws and tighten down with your #1 Phillips screwdriver making sure
the tops of the screws are flush with the Pro.Fit VSMTM.
STEP 4.
Re-assemble the dash in reverse order securing all wiring, clips and screws.
