Windstar 1998 Custom Mount

Pro Fit International Vehicle Specific Mounts are made specifically to fit each vehicle. They use existing dash fittings so there is no need to alter the interior of your vehicle and they blend in well for a much cleaner and more finished look. The picture above shows where it installs in your car and included below are the installation instructions to give you an idea of how difficult it is to install into your vehicle (also, the pdf manual is available above by clicking on the pdf icon). On some cars the VSM can be easily installed without tools in a few minutes, in some cars it requires more effort.

We highly recommend using the Pro-Fit Easy Swivel in addition to the mount for clearance and tilting.

TOOLS REQUIRED: Hook tool, 9/32 socket & driver, #2 Phillips screwdriver, 5/64 drill bit, drill,
protective cloth.
PARTS INCLUDED: Pro.Fit VSMTM, two (2) #8x3/8 screws, instruction
LOCATION: To the right of the cigarette lighter and climate control unit.
STEP 1.
Begin by extending ashtray out fully. Using 9/32 socket and dri-
ver remove two (2) 9/32screws along the side of ashtray. (One
on each side ). Set screws aside.
STEP 2.
Remove radio trim bezel. This is held in by six (6) clips [two (2)
by steering column, one (1) by cigarette lighter, one (1) by panel
above the ashtray, and two (2) below and left of the climate con-
trol. Insert hook tool between trim bezel and dash pad in upper
right corner of trim bezel. Pull back to release first clip. With
hands, slowly work bezel loose to release remaining clips.
Disconnect wiring harness for cigarette lighter. Let trim bezel
hang to side. NOTE : Use protective cloth between hanging bezel
and dash to prevent scratching.
STEP 3.
Attach hang-up cup onto Pro.Fit VSMTM. Using 9/32 socket and
driver remove two (2) 9/32 factory bolts on right side of the cli-
mate control. Lower hole of Pro.Fit VSMTM will line up with the
upper hole on the climate control. (Mounting behind the climate
control mounting bracket.) Replace the two (2) factory bolts.
Using the remaining two (2) holes in Pro.Fit VSMTM as a guide,
drill two pilot holes with 5/64 drill bit and drill with Pro.Fit
VSMTM in place. Insert and tighten two (2) #8x3/8 provided
screws.
STEP 4.
Re-assemble dash by connecting wiring and re-attaching trim
bezel.Tighten screws. Replace ashtray.
